Lovely Summer Market + Lunch Spot

Lanthandel is a Dalarö local’s number one for fresh fruit, veg, quality meat + fish, etc, etc. This sweet market + café sells a wonderful handpicked selection of delicious pre-made dishes + desserts as well. Make sure to call ahead for larger orders and stop in for the perfectly poached salmon for lunch. They also sell beautiful fresh flowers for those needing a hostess gift on their way to a summer lunch. The prices aren’t cheap, but sometimes these things are worth it. Closed Mondays. Open Easter to mid-September.

Just a stone throw away ( and short ferry ride) from Dalarö is this lovely island that dates back to 1623, when King Karl X Gustav had it’s fort built to protect the entrance to Stockholm’s archipelago.  Now it is a place to party, dine + enjoy the beautiful Swedish archipelago land + seascape. Open for brunch the first Sunday of June through the summer, this is a must for those wanting an archipelago experience close to the city. Take your own boat or Waxholmsbolaget going from Dalaro with Saxaren 10:20 or Långvik 12:10 out to Dalarö Skans + enjoy!

If you need a hotel on Sandhamn this is the place.  A sweet, modern hotel set on the popular summer island. Enjoy drinks on the terrace + dinner on the weekends in their restaurant. They offer fishing experiences with your own fishing guide, kayak rentals, boat trips to the outer archipelago + trimaran sailing with professional sailors. They also offer wine tasting + cooking classes with their chef for those interested in chilling on land.

Dating back to the 1850s, this restaurant + pub is known as the Sandhamn resident’s local watering hole. It’s best for a sunny day lunch on the terrace drinking beer + enjoying the sea breeze. Although when there is poor weather, the inside restaurant is super cosy + charming. Delicious Swedish cuisine in an authentic, seaside house on a small island = obviously.

The Local’s Bakery

Known for their cinnamon buns + sourdough bread, this little bakery is the perfect early morning destination for some coffee + baked goods. They are also the local goto beach picnic takeaway for some sandwiches.
